As the weather was fine this weekend, mrsthewife and I decided to take babydogmonkey to a farm which had a little petting corner for kiddies........... cue images of baby lambs being bottle-fed and lots of bunnys for our little one to cuddle.
We set off, blissfully unaware of how our trip would end up!
In retrospect, the clues were all there as we parked our car. A huge car park greeted us in front of a building called "The Play Barn".
Inside, bedlam greeted us! An adventure playground in a barn complete with screaming children did not seem very animal friendly but we paid our entrance fee (£4 f*****g 50! each) and went through.
"The Rabbit Warren" seemed a good place to start ....... inside were these concrete cells each holding a rabbit hutch and one rabbit. We had hoped for a lovely garden area with free range bunnies hopping around ........ oh,we were stupid!!
"The Sheep Barn" did exactly what it said on the tin ....... a barn rammed full of sheep in a huge concrete pen, bleating thier bollocks off ........ kids came out crying due to the volume in there.
Needless to say, trips to "The Chicken Run", "The Pig Corner" and "Goat Enclosure" yeilded the same sad specimins.
The only way we will go again is if babydogmonkey wants to see any examples of battery farming!!
The next day we went to the park instead

All sounds very distressing... Not to mention depressing.
We are pretty lucky round this way - we have two really good show farms in easy walking distance. We nearly went to one of them ourselves yesterday but in the end the garden was just as god (well, it has s and a ...

resisting the urge to also gloat in our proximity to far more suitable 'city farm' facilities..not to mention the stink of the real thing...suffice to say - sounds like the sooner you find a pad out of the city the better for those sunny weekends....
ironic tho' that what you visited is probably much closer to the real thing that bears thinking about...

My ears are still ringing from the deafening bleats of the damn .
Why don't we go to Bernard Matthews place next time? I'm sure his farm is equally idyllic.

Living in the country I could just walk 2 mins along the road to go to a real farm, complete with a lovely stream running through its courtyard
The country's crap for record shops though.
