A Conversation for The Trinity - A Christian Belief?
God is not Jesus

The trinitarian beleif is that Jesus, Jehovah (God) and The Holy Spirit are the same person, the bible clearly states that they are seperate individuals, and Jesus says his father is greater than him. This is one of the many instances that shows jesus to be a seperate person to god.
Note these other instances:
Matt. 26:39, RS: “Going a little farther he [Jesus Christ] fell on his face and prayed, ‘My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.’” (If the Father and the Son were not distinct individuals, such a prayer would have been meaningless. Jesus would have been praying to himself, and his will would of necessity have been the Father’s will.)
John 8:17, 18, RS: “[Jesus answered the Jewish Pharisees:] In your law it is written that the testimony of two men is true; I bear witness to myself, and the Father who sent me bears witness to me.” (So, Jesus definitely spoke of himself as being an individual separate and distinct from the Father.)

I fully agree with you that the trinity is the teachings of man and NOT the teachings of the Bible. Jehovah & Christ are father & son & the holy spirit (active force) are 3 different beings. The trinity was introduced into christendom in the 4th century by the roman catholic faith.
May I ask which congregation you belong to. I go to the Laindon congregation.

Ah but when asked at his trial who he was he said
I am who I am
Which means nothing to us in English but was the unpronounced even mispelt name of Jehovah in the Old Testement.
*Glad to pop into this duscussion as it seems civilised*

If I recall correctly, the literal meaning of Jehovah is 'He causes to become', (meaning 'he creates' or in other words 'creator').
And I think a few verses after he said that, he clarified what he meant by saying, "Why do you say 'He has blasphemed!' because I said 'I am the son of God'?"

I would have to disagree with your attack on the trinity.
I suspect that you are from the Jehovah's Witnesses by the language you are using.
I fully agree that the word "trinity" does not appear in the Bible.
I see the idea of the trinity as an attempt to explain God and his relationship to Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Key: Complain about this post
