The sequel to PP, 'PP in Scarlet', by children's author, Geraldine McCaughrean, has just been published.
As the Entry mentions, although the copyrigjht expired 50 years after Barrie's death in 1937, the Government granted Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) perpetual rights to PP in 1988. Sunsequently, in 2004, GOSH decided to celebrate PP's centenary by running a competition to find an author to write an official sequel. There were more than 200 entries, but MCaughrean's was the successful one. Royalties on the sequel will be shared by GOSH and the author. Copyright. including film rights. belongs to GOSH.
I haven't read 'PP in Scarlet' yet but, given its title and the fact that the original was first published (as a play) in 1904 and then as a novel in 1911 (i.e. just prior to WW1, one doesn't need to be Einstein to guess how PP has moved on in time!
