Cathain (Star-Namer & Italian Cook)

brought shiny new DVD player home and discovered that not all TV sets come w/ multiple a/v/signal ports in the back. stared flummoxed at single antenna port thinking, "who the f**k makes a tv w/ only an antenna port?!" for several minutes before remembering nifty little adapter thingy C's dad said we'd need, and thankfully, bought for us. connected it all, but grumbled mightily about ridiculous American technology that's no bloody use. TV doesn't even have simple TV/Video button on remote. Primitive!

v. stupidly started watching FotR cast audio commentary at like 11pm. some interesting or amusing tidbits, but mostly them chattering & amusing themselves or spending lots of time complimenting each other. Loved hearing SB's natural accent - never realized that he's closer to Sharpe than Boromir (or whats-his-face from Goldeneye). quite yummy. OB's pretty swank too, though a bit too posh-sounding. and says "like" and "y'know" too much too. ah, the shame of American linguistic exportation. would've been nice too if they could've gotten them all (or more of them, anyway) in the same room to comment - so they can respond to each others comments, etc., like they did w/ the hobbit actors. although that led too often to the telling of mildly amusing, but not at all connected to what was happening on screen stories. was hoping for a bit more in-depth. SB provided nicely, as did EW. Other hobbits mostly just giggled, although I also love SA's voice. disappointed that there wasn't anything (at least, as far as the scenes in Lothlorien, which is where I finally stopped at nearly 2am) from Viggo. heard that he had all these insights and was making all these recommendations, etc., so would've liked to hear them in his own (lovely) voice.
