h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Deepest, wildest Essex. A small and sloping sloping field behind a ver' "quaint" english pub. Nearest hamlet - half a mile away six houses a duck and a tyre fitters. The band bouncing away, very probably a bit louder than necessary, but the crowd loving it. At 23.00hrs Saturday 5th August the Environment Health marched in, accompanyied by polis and turned off the microphones mid-song. No attempt at negotiation, no explanations. Big brother decided that we, tax paying English citizens of voting age, needed to go to bed. Any oppostion was met with the threat of prosecution for all involved; the landlady losing her license, the organizers facing unpayable fines or imprisonment. The field is usually full of people firing shotguns, but that's OK cos the obviously don't enjoy it.
The rest of the weekend/rally was bloody ace. "We will rock you" will never be the same in my memory again. And I love my bike. A lot. CBR400RR, Battleax shod + English country back roads = heaven on earth. Two up or luggaged-up, she don't care, she just >goes<. I saw quite a lot of obscure Essex and Cambridge countryside and it was fun.

But did you see any emus?

That was weird, wasn't it? I mean, well, odd. I've seen warning signs for deer, for hedgehogs. But emus? In Essex? Coo, that's novel
