Hello scaryfish!
It is really too bad your entry has been languishing here for three whole weeks! I liked this entry a lot. What a lot of fun....I had no idea that such a thing existed. I mean the human fan groups. I am familiar with the all of the fictional furries you mentioned. Have you read any of Alan Dean Foster's Spellsinger Adventures? Hilarious! Mudge the Otter is my favorite character (personally, I am fascinated by otters).
A couple of questions for you though. Do you have any idea how long the human fur groups have been around? You mentioned the code in your fifth footnote. Why does it exist? How did it develop? What does your code mean? And finally, how could it "quickly" describe yourself when it is so long?!
One spelling error (genral). The line should read as follows: "...such as the FurryMUCK. It is just a general......"
Well, scaryfish, I hope there will be interest in your entry soon!
Namaste,
Reika

Glad you liked it!
No, I haven't read any of those books - never could find the first one... (I hate starting a series half-way through)
Well, the concept of anthropomorphics has been around about as long as humans have - eg. many Egyptian gods had animal heads, etc. The fandom itself wasn't really organised until, uh, about 1983 or sometime... There's a history on one of the pages I linked to, I think... can't remember.
Anyway, the code. Well, to find out what it means, go to http://www.vulpine.pp.se/cgi-bin/furcode and click "decode" and paste my code in. It does give a lot of info about the person, such as their species, job, education, likes and dislikes, etc. If you tried to type out all the info in words it would take up a whole page.
Anyway, thanks!
=)

Couldn't find the first one of the Spellsinger series? Oh.....I looked at the publishing date and discovered it was printed in 1982! Egad! Has it been that long?! My....how time flies!
I'm with you; I can't stand to receive a book as a present only to discover it is the second (or worse, the third) in a series. I don't necessarily need to read them all, but I do like to know what went on previously.
Namaste,
Reika

I'll keep looking... I like otters too - they're so playful and energetic. :D
Hmm.. I'm getting the feeling this won't get into the Edited Guide... My other Edited entries got in almost straight away, after a few pointers on format, typos etc.
Oh well.

Personally I think this entry has a lot of merit. Don't give up hope yet. From what I have seen while monitoring the pages for the Scouts and the Sub-eds the system bogs down sometimes and worthy entries languish for a bit. Perhaps a name change? Although the title is what attracted me to the entry. Keeping up the discussion may help too. The more interest there is, the more likely it will be picked up. I really do like the information, but.....it sometimes does get bogged down in the technical stuff. Perhaps a little editing while you're waiting?
G'day and Namaste,
Reika

I think it'll get in: but it seems that none of the existing scouts are furries, so they'll naturally be slightly more hesitant about recommending something they don't know very much about. Be patient - and write another entry while you're waiting
