Why can't he eat somewhere normal like the kitchen or the dining room?
If he stops eating in his bed and uses it just for the purposes it was intended for he'd have a much better chance of sleeping at night. It would also help if stops reading (yes, especially those magazines) and watching T.V. in bed.) I know he has more than one room so he really should confine his other activities to rooms other than the bedroom.

If he can't eat, read or watch TV in the bed, what else is he supposed to do?

What's so silly about sleeping in bed. That's what I tend to do in bed.
