Good luck with all that, for what it's worth.
You teachers do one of the most important jobs in society and don't get nearly enough recognition, so I hope the strike's successful.

Thank you.
I might add that I was thumped with a closed fist in the back of the head by a 14-year-old pupil today, so I feel doubly justified in staying home tomorrow.

There's some flicking morons about, aren't there? What the hell's that even meant to achieve?

Mu Beta Posted Apr 23, 2008
Well, it will achieve his immediate removal from the school and a visit from the police, so I hope he looks forward to that.

As you can see from my name tag I won't be out, (different union) but neither will I be covering. And if our lot could be botherered to haul out of bed and form a picket line I wouldn't cross it.
We were discussing today what would happen if we all "worked to rule". That would be much more disruptive.
(With regard to the thump, I remember many years ago a colleague actually persuing an assault case, as she had a tooth knocked out by a flying chair. At court the boys mum thanked her from bringing the case, as she was at her wits end with him herself.)

We Civil Servants are out tomorrow as well. Weather permitting, I plan to play golf, very badly.

Now, you see, from the teacher's point of view that illustrates completely what is wrong with today's working-class society.
Golf, yes. I may well drag the clubs out of the shed and head down to Huntley. On the other side, I have two-thirds of the Bourne Trilogy on DVD which I still have not seen.

Bloody hell, if I'd have thrown a chair at someone, my dad'd have given me a right smack - let alone leaving it to the police to sort out.

That's part of the problem. No Dad. No Mum. The lad's in foster care.

Explains a lot I suppose. Must be difficult for everyone in that situation. Doesn't excuse their actions though.
