A friend asked me the other day to try and explain what a Spiritual Master is. And it occurred to me that it is all well and good to start going around saying I'm a Spiritual Master, but without explanation, the title becomes rather empty. However, the explanation could take a bit of time.
In most people's life, the question of what the purpose of life is rears its head from time to time. Many people have many different theories about the meaning of life, but Spiritual Masters appear to have a firmer grasp than most. That is, they understand the purpose of our existence, and generally try to help others remember the truth as well. Spiritual Masters come in all shapes and forms, to lesser and greater degrees of awareness, and there are a fair few inhabiting the planet at this time. Names such as Neale Donald Walsche, Marianne Williamson, Sai Baba and Stuart Wilde spring to mind...
Spiritual Mastery is a constantly-evolving process, as there are always new experiences to undertake and lessons to be learned. However, the main tenet that appears to come from Spiritual Masters is that we are all one. We perceive ourselves as individuals, but we are merely reflections of the Source (call it God if you like). This message has been projected by many Masters, although in some cases the messages have become diluted and repackaged over the years. But the fundamental truths put forward, and the practical applications thereof are trademarks of Spiritual Mastery.
The real secret is that we all have the potential to be Spiritual Masters. But that's another story.
