I agree, definitely a good read...
One question remains... do you know of anywhere online that I can listen to some of these pieces sung properly? The written word is all well and good, but I suspect you need to hear it

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this entry ... and I agree that there have been too many "bland" performances of baroque vocal music. Thank you for a great entry.
