h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I'm sure there have been lots of conversations about this, but this is mine.

Snow has been the order of the season. We've had over a foot at my house, which is the most I've ever seen without driving out into the hills. It's both exciting and, of course, irritating. I've got my walking poles out and have been walking in to work with those. They've saved me falling over a couple of times.

In other news I discovered a new colleague is also a D&D player, and she and I nerded out delightfully over shared geekery this morning. New friend!

I'm so jealous - I've not had snow for years. When's our turn to have some, eh?

I gather the south coast had a bit of a dramatic storm a few days ago though?

Snow is fun but only when one doesn't have to travel anywhere.

It was a little wet and windy here a week or two ago, but nothing particularly noteworthy.

We did have the Day of Red with a red sky and red sun back in October – now that was truly spectacular.

Yes indeed. I did get snowed in in 2013, but luckily I was on holiday from work plus I was snowed in with my partner, not on my own, so it was really good - we had a little bit of fun with the snow in front of my door but mostly enjoyed admiring the snow outdoors while we were warm indoors, and I'd stocked up with plenty of food and hot chocolate so we were OK

This time the snow here wasn't as deep as that (considerably less than a foot, thankfully), so I could get out, and just had to be a bit careful. That's good about the walking poles for you, Vip - must make walking in the snow much more enjoyable, that you can enjoy the scenery while feeling safer.

I can tell I'm getting old, I am welcoming the heavy rain that is currently washing away the snow.

And I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow if I don't want to, it's my day off. Wonderful.
