When I attempted to play my PS2 version of Okami on my PS3 it kindly told me that the format was not supported on my model of PS3. Oddly though, it has no problem supporting my PS1 version of Final Fantasy VIII.
Still can't decide if I can bear to play through it again though. There is such a thing as 'too much', and definitely a thing called 'graphics too poor'. They were good in 1999 (gods, it's eleven years old!!) but they are definitely NOT good now. Pixels as big as your head....

I can understand what you are talking about here, but I will say one of the best things about video games is their gameplay. OK some pixels might look as big as your head in comparison to the latest 360/PS3 games - I would consider myself a relatively obsessed gamer but the game I mainly play is a tennis game on the iPhone. Gameplay is absorbing but looks as pretty as Gordon Brown.

As much as I agree with you consciously, I just can't seem to get myself to do it! FF VI, for example has a great plot and gameplay, but I just can't get past the sprites. It's one of my failings as a gamer, especially as I deplore games that appear to have forsaken gameplay for something that just looks pretty.
Admittedly, there's just something about VIII that I have never liked (graphic-wise). VII and IX I can still happily play, because they are more stylised. By trying to be more realistic VIII always came off worse.
I guess it just depends on the game itself - I'll still play MUDs and Commander Keen, but certain ages and styles of graphics have just dated more than those around them.

IX is actually my most played and my favourite. I love the plot and gameplay. Mostly I think I just have soft spot for job classes, which is why I like X-2. Oh, and the card game.
