still very new to macs... but i found smiley - biggrin this free program, Switch, last nite trying to find a way to get my wma files into mp3 format for itunes.... it works very well! and the desktop icon is sweeeeet!

is there an itunes type formatted program i can run wma files in tho? with playlists etc? i tried realplayer and windows media player for mac (before i found Switch) but i couldnt tweak them to have the big window with library and playlists and all then nice playback functions of itunes.

it is just a little galling i have only itunes to work with for my music playback... tho i do like them muchly!!

what you do is move it to the trash.

RE jukebox-ey program, there's VLC, MPlayer and XMMS. Real player should allow for playlists, though I rarely use it as I tend to stay with VLC, QT and iTunes.

um (blondness here) move what to the trash? the icon on my desktop or the application out of my applications list? wow that is so easy! please tell me though exactly what to move... and does it delete all the little things it has out in the computer that it has put there? sorry dont have the lingo.... you know.... little files from the application inserted in bootup and ini etc etc etc.

okay and i will look into VLC MPlayer and XMMS though of course i will probably go with VLC since you do!!
I dont have QT paid so its pretty unfunctional.

thanks smiley - smiley

You move the actual application to the trash. Also any aliases and you're best to check if it's put anything in the Library folders, that is check [Your HDD]/Library/Application Support/ and [Your Home dir]/Library/Application Support/, but I don't think WMP puts anything extra anywhere.

Most Mac programs, those that you merely copy over to your HDD anyway, are pretty easy to remove. Oh and don't forget to empty your trash.

it should work perfectly without paying...paying adds only few extras, like full screen.

Windows Media Player puts preference files in the Home/Library/Preferences folder. That is the Library folder in your home folder. Just click the Home icon on the left of the Finder window.
