Hoot for peace!

Wow, today was a rather excellent Saturday. As weekends are normally a bit boring, I decide to journey into the bustling punk rock metropolis that is Bristol, UK to meet up with some friends and spend the day having fun. In the morning we did the usual record shopping and I got:

- Four Letter Word - 'The band that time forgot'. This band are really good, and were the first punk band that I ever saw. I'm pleased with this album as it was only £5 and pressed on rather hideous lime green vinyl.

- 'A fistful of Rock n Roll' compilation. This CD is quite cool, as it's fast rock n roll. Reminds me of Zeke, who are a good band.

- A back issue of Maximum RocknRoll for £1

Also, Hannah, who is the coolest kid with pink hair ever, gave me a tape of 'Give em enough rope' by the Clash and a CD-R of The (International) Noise Conspiracy's 'A new morning, changing weather'. It's a CD which I actually bought for her as a surprise present six months ago, but at the time I forgot to copy it for myself. Now I finally have it smiley - smiley

Anyway, after consuming records we wandered round tacky shops for a few hours, the highlight of these shops being a secondhand book shop with a rather excellent erotic fiction section.

At 3pm me and Hannah headed on down to the centre to attend the Bristol Stop the War Coalition's peace vigil. It was the first time I'd been to a vigil like that, but all the people were really welcoming, and they even gave me a rather humorous 'Hoot for Peace!' sign to point out passing cars. I got quite a few responses smiley - biggrin

I must say that I was rather disappointed at the lack of young people there. Apart from me and Hannah, there must have been only two or three other people under the age of 55. Where are all the students?

After that we went to Ikea, where I managed to steal 20 of those little pencil things, which is my best 'score' yet.

When I finally got home after much merriment at 11.30 I found superdogmonkey's mixed CD on the mat. What a nice musical end to an excellent day!

Uneventful. Went dancing with a friend, we stayed at my parents' house. Realized that twenty-year-olds now are way better looking than they used to be when I was twenty... *sigh* On the other hand, I got my new yellow car, and it's very good to finally drive something that doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart every time you shift gears...

Oh, yeah, I dropped in on my ex at his bar. We're sort of in touch now. I'm sure this is so NOT the right thing to do.

Re: your demo.
Apathy in the UK?
The music YOU listen to requires an open mind in regards to lyrics etc which seems to be lacking in todays pop idol/group/boy band music.
????
Or am I mad and old??
