I liked the essay about the thorn. I was wondering though why no mention is made of Danish and Icelandic.

Thank you for reading, and for your comment. The intimate relationship between Icelandic and Old English is something I'd love to discuss in an article, but it's such a huge topic that it would end up being several articles (long ones) in itself...
I decided to prune the article of various branches that would be all too fascinating but lead away from the main issue. I know myself... I'm too fond of meandering. I exercise strict control over my writing for that very reason.
But let me see when I've some time... and I'll certainly write an article covering some (oh, restraint!) aspects of the similarity between OE and Icelandic, and the Norse languages in general.
Even something delving into the very proto-language of the Indo-European languages... Doesn't it make your spine tingle to think about it? Origins... connections... fascinating...
