Dear Diary.... Can't SLEEP... Clowns will EAT ME!!!!!!
I have discovered a bit of an unsettling discovery, which happened by accident, as most discoveries do. Although I discovered this before a few years ago, my dear friend Insomnia came in for a bit of a visit once again to remind me of it's great and wonderous powers. If you have never had Insomnia over for a spot of tea...I suggest you do, it's quite a mind opening experience. You realize just how well or not so well your mind can function under the strain. If you've never experienced insomnia or would like to be reminded I will be the first to tell you to do one or all of the following.
1. Rent Fight Club-the scene where Edward Norton (a god among mortals) describes what it's like to have insomnia and the sequence that follows it is eerily acurate!
2. Read as much about insomnia as possible (when you're not sleeping), including medical journals (it's rather frightening).
3. If you've never done so, stay awake for three days straight and you will start to see and hear (or not) things that aren't really there.
Which leads me to
4. As part of another one of my rash decisions I have decided to perform an experiment. A friend of mine and I will be trying to stay awake for as long as possible (or go on as little sleep as possible) and document the effects of such cruelty to one's organism.
So far the last time I slept was last night for a brief two hours. In the last 4 days I've slept a total of 9 hours, which includes staring off into a corner of my room for the last twenty minutes...I don't think there was a lot of brain activity just then.
Those of you who wish to participate may do so by replying here to INSOMNIA CENTRAL-SLEEP DEPRAVATION CONTAINMENT UNIT. I will however say that I neither recommend nor condone this to anyone under the age of 18, please check with your doctor before starting any new health regimen, don't run with sharp objects in your hands and say please and thank you...it's just civilized people...
Since I am currently not sleeping and have had two pints...this seems like a rather good idea. I don't know how well this will go over but if it turns out half way decent I will have used my time wisely.
Anyone out there who doesn't have trouble sleeping and would like to participate please feel free to send tea and cookies, preferably something I can dip...yes, I'm a dipper.
I have just conferred with my associate and I was recommended to take a poll?! Ok...we want feedback. How shall we go about doing this, all suggestions are welcomed. We will start this as soon as we have enough feedback and will keep you posted.
