Hi. How beautiful BC must be. I picture snow-capped mountains reflected in sky blue lakes that are being sipped at by Moose. Just watbh out for thos Bears! I am new to h2g2, but having looked around a few userpages it seems everyone considers themself to be a writer of sorts. I'm glad i don't, because I would be disheartened that there was so much competition out there. Obviously there aren't enough opportunities for everyone to be published, let alone sell enough copies to make a living. Anyway, keep at it - you could be one the chosen few. Meanwhile, enjoy the sights of BC, I envy you - how did you just get offered a place to stay there anyway? Best of luck

BC is beaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaautiful. It's my favorite place on earth. If you visit my blog (link on my personal space) and click on the "Photo Hosting" link, there are pictures that I have taken of Vancouver.
You are new? To hootoo? Woohoo! Welcome! I hope you are enjoying the site!
As for competition, it's not so bad. Everyone has their own specific subjects they write about on the Guide - you will no doubt have something that only *you* can write about. Don't be afraid to contribute! It's great fun!
But as for "writers" writers, as opposed to the Guide, well...some people call themselves writers, but it doesn't *make* them writers. I try my best.
I got the chance to be here via a kind friend and some spare money that was around. Just one of those things - I like to try and take all opportunities that come my way. I feel very lucky indeed, and I am trying to enjoy my time here as much as I can.
Thankyou for the compliments! Once again, hope you are enjoying h2g2 and/or Get Writing!

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
