h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

As someone who works for a stand-up club I am somwhat biased but I reckon our club, XS Malarkey, is one of the best for the following reason.

The venue is just the right size, not too big, not too small. about 200 capacity in fact so it still quite intimate.

The promoter and compere is superb. Really nice bloke who all the crowd love. The acts love him too so he gets some of the best on the circuit. People that wouldn't normally play at a venue like ours do, because they like Toby.

All the acts say it one of the best clubs to play at as the crowd are so good.

The club works on a membership basis and there is real loyalty amongst the members to the club. The come to the club because they love stand-up, unlike some of the people who go to the comedy store on hen nights and the like and wreck the night for everyone else.

Actually, Lee's right. XS Malarkey is a top club to play. When the audience are supportive and appreciate their comedy it's so much nicer to be on stage.

My experience is limited, but other good clubs I've played include the Lescar in Sheffield, the Buzz in Manchester and the Laughing Horse in Richmond, London.

Abi was asking before whether you have done anything in London as she wants to see you perform. I said I didn't think you had. Oops. soz. will go and correct myself. Have you got any plans to do any London gigs?

Anyone else know of any really good comedy clubs?

Friday April 26th. The Laughing Horse in Lancaster Gate. I'm doing a 10 minute slot to see if I can impress the promoter. I'm trying to rustle up a couple more gigs and make a weekend of it.
