In a thread someone started to offer condolences to the Browns, on the death of their baby, there were some dissenting voices. I don't know why they chose the words they did, but they caused some people obvious pain. http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/F19585?thread=159891 at post no. 47 I let one of them have it, for what I thought his reasons were for saying things that I found very rude and offensive. I took him to task in ways that were not at all pleasant, even though I was concerned, and said so, it was all pretty misguided on my part. I stand by my opinion that what he said was rude and offensive. I should not have judged him as hastily as I did, just on the basis of what he said. I also lumped him with the other person who was being rude and offensive in the thread, and they are not the same person. I was out of line. He was gracious enough to give me an opportunity to revise my opinion of him. He gave me a link to an article. I read it. I now think he expressed his deep compassion for humanity very badly in that thread, and inadvertently hurt people. I expressed my deep compassion for humanity very badly in that thread, too. If I hurt him, and I'm sure I did, it was not as inadvertent as it was on his part. I am very sorry. I have apologized there.
