I thought you got the City spot on. However, I was at the Uni up to 1984. I take it that the place hasn't improved then, mind you in '84 there was only 1 McDonalds - there's progress 4U!

I've just finished my first year there. It is very good now and the city is packed with excellent student bars - I rekcon it's moved on since your day

Is the studo bar still called The Redfearn? I used to work there amongs't other places. As for student bars, the uni and poly(as it was then) only had 9,000 students combined, and even tho there were grants instead of loans we didn't have the buying power of today. But the main reason there were no student bars was the fact that students, particularly uni students, were hated by the Townies. It was always safer in a nice middle class area like Oadby than the City Centre.
On a side note. When we played another uni someone said The Dover Castle was a good pub to go for a drink. It took a while to repair it. Is it still a gay pub?
