Ok, so if they are bread rolls in sheffield, tea cakes in lancashire, baps in birmingham, why on earth does the word "cob" originiate from???

Answers on the back of a postcard please!

(I once walked into a well known bakerey in Birimingham and asked for a turkey salad cob, and was told that they didnt sell swans they were a bakery! !)smiley - erm
