A Conversation for The Atari Jaguar

Shame...

Sourdust

A decent enough console, but with so few decent games (changing hands at silly collectors' prices these days), not really worth the space on the shelf. The showpiece game, "Tempest 2000", is fabulous but - let's be frank - you can play it on the PC for a fraction of the price, so why bother? "Doom" is fast but looks rough, and struggles to compete with the SNES and 32X ports, let alone the PSX and N64 versions.

A collector's must-have, certainly, but it'll stay in the box most of the time; unlike the superb Lynx, which is still endlessly playable. For all its faults, Atari's main blunder with the Jag was a common one; not enough games available at launch. The subsequent lack of sales momentum leads to a reluctance by developers to support the console, and you're stuck in a loop that leads straight to the bargain bin. smiley - sadface
