Birmingham

People often make this mistake about Birmingham.
The reason is that when they built Spaghetti Junction, they did so in a deliberately unattractive part of the town (views of Villa Park and IMI). This has the advantage of tricking Northerners and Southerners to keep moving. Except of course that they cannot move on that stretch of the M6. But this just makes them even more keen to get away. Leaving the good things about Brum for the Brummies.

Some of these are:
The Cadbury's Factory, Birmingham City, Swordfish Records, Nostalgia and Comics, The Science Museum, Sarehole Mill (home of the Hobbit), The Canals, Ozzy Osbourne's birthplace, Sutton Park (even if the residents like to think they are not in Birmingham)

You will notice that some of the places mentioned above are NOT in Birmingham, and unlike Manchester and London, we do not feel the need to add the prefix "Greater".
