Dragons are obviously the a far superior mythical beast. They're noble, horde treasure, eat fair maidens, terrorize kingdoms, fry knights in their armour, horde more treasure, and still make it home in time for lunch.
Griffons, on the other hand, just fly around and do stuff. Who ever heard of a griffon terrorizing a kingdom? Or hording treasure? No merit what-so-ever as mythical beasts.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! You are truely illinformed about griffins for they are much more noble in a sane person's mind, but I have known for some time now that you are not "sane." I would think you insane even if you didn't want to be a

Ignore him.
Really though, have you ever heard of a griffon doing anything cool? No. They just sit around and "look all noble and stuff." Dragons, on the other hand, terrorise kingdoms, and do all that other stuff I said before. Griffons just aren't famous for anything.

Well, in one of the King Aurthur stories it was the griffins that attacked Camleot. A griffin stole a princess in The Voyage of the Basset, and there is more much more plus they also hord and steal treasure.

So they're like dragons, only worse at what they do. Not as much fame. Seems like they're jealous of dragons.

Why isn't our patrol the Griffin patrol, huh? Why did we choose the noble dragon as our mascot? And I believe it was *you* who sewed our DRAGON patrol flag!
Plus, take any dragon and griffin stats from a fantasy role-playing game and organize a fight. I'll bet you that the dragon would beat mercilessly on the griffin and not break a sweat.
