Now I have had some time to think about it I am a bit more enthusiastic about the prospect.
He deffo has a bit of an "otherworldly look" about him. But crickey he is young.
I hope the beeb repeat "Party Animals" so I get a chance to watch him act....

Well, considering how wrong I was when I thought Catherine Tate would be a load of rubbish there's no way I'm saying anything negative yet...
They've always managed to cast the right person up to now, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I'm really rather excited about the new Doctor. The more I looked at him (I've not seen him anything else) the more I thought...yeah, maybe really rather good.
I hope Mr Moffat does some 'interesting' things the new Doc...
I thought he was quite cute, anyway

...and it could have been this Matt Smith...

And I have just realised why I am a bit unsettled by his age.....
This is the first Doc who is younger than me....
Arrrggghhhh......

He's the second one who's younger than me, David Tennant was the first so his age is no big deal for me

Oh my ... born in 1982 ... he's probably only graduated from uni about 5 years ago ... he's pretty much one of the MTV generation ... what is it with that silly hair and that luvvy chatter ...
Not feeling overenthusiatic ... I'm just getting old I guess ...

I would love to know why Paterson Joseph didn't get the job. Was he a red herring? I'll bet most of the champagne corks popping tonight are in the bookies.

looks like the Dr. Song story won't apear in this Dr.s regeneration, as she pointed out that the DT Dr. was too young, and this one is even younger

I reckon if you stuck a bolt through his neck, he'd make a great Frankenstein ...

Poor bloke, what's he going to do while the specials are being made, unless they are starting filming the new 2010 series soon?
He did a good job in "Ruby in the Smoke" and the follow-up story the name of which escapes me. So we should all give the chap a chance and wish him good luck.

I was going to say ... I think MS has similarities to Tom Baker in terms of his bizarre speech patterns and weird glances ... then I realised that MS wasn't even born when TB was finishing playing The Doctor ...

Jim Lynn Posted Jan 4, 2009
I'm unnerved by his youth, I have to say, but he's got a very quirky look to him. I hate his hair, but then big hair always scares me as I have so little of it myself...
I'm glad they've cast such an unfamiliar actor - David Tennant was (to me, at least) just as unfamiliar, as was Tom Baker, and look how they turned out. The ones who were more familiar had a less predictable track record.
And anyone who can so convince an ubergeek like Steven Moffat to change his mind about wanting an older actor in the part has to have something special about him.
So I'm definitely looking forward to it. But he's still got to work very hard to replace David Tennant. That's a very tough act to follow, for me.

That's jealousy!
Yes, that the clincher for me too.
Also, the extended interview with Matt is worth watching. He gives off a good vibe. And he certainly isn't a pretty bit actor...but I bet the girlies will get to like him. The best thing Matt said was that he loves discovering a part and being the detective...Heath Ledger (also criticised as not being good enough for the 'the Joker' when cast) spent ages getting the Joker right and looked what happened there.
Not a tough act for me, personally, Tennant was excellent but certainly not a one-off or 'un-beatable'. I am looking forward to a non-RTD series with a new Dr and a new Commander-In-Geek at the helm.
Dr Who is dead. Long live Dr Who.
