Feisor - -0- Generix I made it back - sortof ...

My name is Feisor and I am an ACE (Assistant Community Editor) here at h2g2. It's my job to welcome you to the site and hopefully show you around a little. I AM a real person, not an automated reply not an automated reply not an automated reply smiley - laugh.

Welcome to h2g2 – not just the friendliest on-line community but an incredibly huge, living, breathing guide to Life, the Universe and Everything. It’s compiled by researchers just like you and it's something YOU can take part in. You can write entries on all manner of subjects, and if it's something you think would look good in our Edited Guide (where all the best research goes), you can submit it to Peer Review Take a look at the <./>writing-guidelines</.> for more information on that. smiley - smiley

You have made a great start by opening your space smiley - applause I hope when you get to know us a little better you'll join in the general silliness and maybe even write for The Guide - but there's no rush - and it's not compulsory smiley - smiley

BTW - the message you have left entitled "The Full Book Experience" has been posted to your own space - that's like writing a letter to the world and leaving it on the the notice board in your room - no one will see it unless they visit smiley - biggrin Follow the New Researchers link below to get a good idea of how this place works smiley - ok

We ACEs are volunteers here to assist new researchers so if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
You can leave a message on my space just by clicking on my name at the top of this message or by hitting the reply button below - it won't hit back (usually).

I have made a "Hints and Links for New Researchers" page at <./>A719840</.> - if you go there it will lead you to all sorts of places which will help find your way around and get to know this wonderful place. It should keep you busy for a while smiley - biggrin

Oh, and don’t forget to bookmark not only your space but the H2G2 <./>FrontPage</.> - it’s a great way to stay in touch with what’s happening and leads to all sorts of corners which you may otherwise miss.

I am sure that you will love this community as much as we do smiley - biggrin There's lots of things to see, clubs to join and people to meet - please don't be shy - just jump right in - this is a friendly place. But be careful - it can become quite addictive - believe me I know smiley - laugh

smiley - cheers

Enjoy!!
Have fun!!!
and above all smiley - dontpanic!!!

Wow. My message actually made it somewhere then!

Thank you Feiser. Really nice to have a reply to a first post, especially as I have been wondering around this site like a lost soul, wondering how it all works.

I'll have a read of all the manuals but it may be sometime before I resurface again and find out how to start a conversation. Even longer before I work out how to remove my foot from my mouth.

Thanks again

If you have any questions about hootoo (as we call h2g2) or need any help just drop me a line here and I'll get back to you asap smiley - ok

Feisor - I didn't ASL you. Or were you replying to someone else? Not really sure how the Personal messages work as I haven't used them yet.

Hope you get this Feisor. smiley - smiley

Oops - that's my fault - I just read the post and thought that it was you - I should have known that you would have more class than to do all that ASL twaddle. smiley - sorry

That poster has been dropping that message all over the site - I might just drop over to his page and "have a word" smiley - laugh

smiley - sorry again

How are you getting on anyway? Enjoying hootoo?

"Not really sure how the Personal messages work as I haven't used them yet."

Anyone can take part in any conversation and it will appear on their conversation list. Or you can leave a message on somone's space - but remember - nothing on hootoo is private - everyone can see everything ( and that really is worth remembering smiley - laugh)

What a wonderful, perceptive person you are to recognise the intrinsic quality of carmentheopera! smiley - biggrin No irony there then. smiley - winkeye

I am loving hootoo. It taken a while to get into but I've sort of caught the bug. You get some right "characters" on here and they provide me with no end of mirth. So many people here with a wicked sense of humour. I post a little when I feel I have something to say, stick to one or two threads and join in when I can.

Won't be needing to message anyone for a while but if I find my PSs in a twist I will give you a shout. Cheers!

"You get some right "characters" on here " - oh, so you've run into 2legs have you? smiley - laugh

You really have the right idea though, I always say that it's like walking into a party ... there are conversations where you feel comfortable just jumping in, there are others where you just observe in awe and then there are the ones where you just shake your head and walk away smiley - biggrin

The same goes for the people - some you will feel comfortable with immediately, others will take a while to "get the hang of" and then there are those you just find yourself avoiding. But that's the way of the world isn't it?

Taking it slow, as you are, is a great way to sort it all out smiley - ok

And please don't hesitate to ask for help - if I'm not here you can always ask one of the other <./>ACEs</.> - they are all lovely people and helping people is what we are here for.

Keep enjoying yourself smiley - cheers
