I came across a conversation with someone the other day in my rarified ivory tower when I was told
The X is 30, 000 that's 3 to the power 4! And I appreciated the value of the number more.

To some people SI form makes a number seem larger than normal numbers, and it's true. You wonder if you've miscounted the 0s with normal numbers.
