Well done you.
I'm given to understand that the month of August is called, in the NHS, 'The Killing Season'. Two things happpen at once. Firstly, all the consultants go on holiday. Secondly, a new crop of Junior Doctors arrives. For a while the entire service is run by newly-appointed SHOs in charge of a bunch of people who've never laid hands upon a patient.
Don't get ill in August!

It's actually run by registrars, who are mostly very good
There isn't really a problem with medical unemployment in the first two years, which are technically part of our training - whether or not we get a job next year is the difficult one.

That raises a small question - how goeth the debt repayments? Are they really as scary as I think they are? It's just that I don't know anyone who's actually gone through medical school during the student loans era - my dad was given a grant and not expected to pay it back, so no good asking him...

Loans...at least Doctors can earn extra cash by selling scripts...
(Reminds me of the time my father-in-law moved into a home and we cleared out his house. I had a binbag full of his old medicine in the back of my car for ages. When I delved in to see what was there, I discovered it was mostly diamorphine! I could have sold it for a packet.)
