Thank you for that reply. Any friendly contact is greatly appreciated. I am not sure of the full meaning of your message, Being a h2g2 virgin, But I will say yes anyway. Do not be fooled by the nickname R185825 I have been floating around in a kind of cyberspace hell for the last two hours unable to log on as myself. I found it easier to log on as a new member then visit myself as it were, Does this mean that I have gone through some kind of timewarp??
I await your reply

What sort of trouble is it you are having logging on? Is it the server acting up or something specifically about your account?
Give me a sec while I look something up...

If you have a problem logging with your origional h2g2 account but which doesnt occur with anything else, then something is going haywire at h2g2, and you should maybe email
[email protected] the details of your problem.

Or to begin with, tell me more specifically what the problem is and I'll see if I can help - always willing to try

Thanks for you help and advice. You are reinstating my faith in human nature and technology!
I will go away tonight and ponder your technical observations (Ask a few technically aware friends) And try again tomorrow. I suspect it is finger trouble on my part.
Thank you again friend

Having any luck with getting back online as mick?
I have asked around and it seems there have been a few problems with h2g2 in the past few days basicly brought on by the bbc servers being overworked big time by the large amouunt of news being requested, so if you are still having problems during the day, maybe better off trying later on at night sometime when the virtual world is quieter - in the morning before 8am GMT is one of the quietest times I think...

Thanks for all your help and effort Vogonpoet, I have been away from my desk for most of the last two days but will try to logon as Mick. (My real name) If I do not have any success I will abandon the persona and change this slot to my main one. I'll have to think of a witty and jovial alternative. One non technical question I wonder if you could help me with is: I am trying to build up a collection of trashy company slogans,You know the type "You have tried the cowboys now try the Indians" Singh & co builders. We have a local garden centre with the sub name "Plants that grow from Tom and Joe" I have seen a contract electricians van with the slogan "Dont be in the dark with Eddie Mark" Call me sad if you will, but can you tell me where I could best post this request. Thanks again for your help.

They say that if you worry that no one cares if you are alive or not, Just try missing a few credit card payments. I am so glad there are other methods still available. I have been away since last Thursday up in the hills of North Northumberland on a management training weekend, And am just back. I do not have access to the internet at home so am tied to working hours, Actually everyone in the office thinks I am writing out some important report at this very moment! I assume that you are accessing from home due to the time you posted your message 1.00am.

Sadly my addiction sees lack of home computer as no obsatcle to posting on h2g2 - I was in , and indeed am curently in a uni computer lab at edinburgh, which I can access 24 hours a day with my swipe card, meaning I am free to post whenever I feel the need.... not that it is terribly pleasant in this horrible room which is never the right temperature and where my kitchen is 20 minute walk away: no .... hoping to get home access soonish though ,then there will be no stopping me on here at all... could be dangerous

And was the managerial course good? Did it involve mud and team building or was it a rather drier affair?
Key: Complain about this post
