I just want to say...
being in a reflective mood, and , tending slightly towards the pessimistic...my thoughts did a very quick hop. skip and a jump over so many things I could comment on. or submit for discussion, and, as usual when I am in this (reflective-pessimistic) frame of 'mind' I recall a young fellow I met in Alaska many years ago. He was a serious, and studious type---and was in poor health, had a slight physical deformity which he hated, and also had been diagnosed as diabetic. Yet, we found a lot of subjects that interested us , in spite of the fact that I ( a senior ) was more than twice his age I realised that in his short life- so far- he had had some interesting experiences and also some most interesting ideas about life in general. Finally, one day I said to him, "Garth, you ought to write about all this, you have a lot to tell people " He was able to smile a little, but only replied flatly " Nothing new, it's all been done, said and written about by others". End of story:
So now I must jump into "optimistic " gear and see what sort of a Cheer-Up narrative can be related next time : However there is a hidden message in Garth's statement Did you get it ?

Hmmm. Hidden message, eh?

Sorry, encryption is not my forte smiley - headhurts

I must say I wholeheartedly disagree with the statement and with the sentiment it expresses smiley - smiley

Literally speaking, your young friend must be extremely well educated and very well read to make such a sweeping analysis of all the world's literature... Not to mention somehow being privy to all the actions done and words spoken... Omnipresence in time and space, eh? No wonder he was unhealhy..smiley - ill That kind of thng takes it out of you... smiley - winkeye

Scientifically speaking, everything is continuously being renewed -- if it were not so, everything would have already happened, and we would not be discussing this smiley - scientist

Philosophically speaking, if everyone had that defeatist attitude, nothing ever would get done, or said, or written about... smiley - erm

Metaphysically speaking, there are no 'things', and no 'others' to do them, or talk or write about them... All of existence is a unified process, not a haphazard collection of 'bits.' Separate entities, cause/effect, and even time/space are merely convenient illusions.. Every sentient being, and every thing that is done, or said, or written, is a part of the intricate tapestry of the universe -- flowing effortlessly.. Who are we to impede the expression of the Great Way? smiley - zen

If you ever get a chance to speak with Garth again, ask him to gaze up into the sky one clear night, or watch a sunset, or closely observe a flower, or better yet, look deeply into the eyes of a child... If, after doing so, he still believes there is nothing new, he is a sorry chap indeed... smiley - rose
