fords - number 1 all over heaven

I've been getting stomach pains for a while and so far nothing has turned up in the subsequent medical investigations. Well, apart from the dietician telling me I'm not coeliac and the pain and bloating is because despite my back problems I should be out doing 5k runs every morning smiley - tongueout

Recently I started buying tea instead of coffee at uni, mainly because it's cheaper and I'm still awaiting my student money from SAAS (which is an epic story in itself). I've noticed that I've been losing weight, so I was surprised when I weighed myself the other day and discovered I'd lost about six or seven kilos over two weeks! I take my tea black and my coffee white and haven't been eating a lot of dairy products recently, so have come to the conclusion that I may be lactose intolerant. Trouble is, if I cut out dairy completely that means I'll be vegan and I don't wanna be a vegan - cheese is just too awesome to give up smiley - wah

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle!

Pssst, lactofree cheese and milk do exist (and are actually rather edible) also, yoghurts, butter, icecream and cream. The milk and cheese can be found in *most* supermarkets other stuff tends to lurk in bigger brancehs of Tesco etc.

Enjoy.

I've been using Lactofree milk and discovered at the weekend that they do indeed do lacto free cheese and butter. I felt like punching the cheeky git in the coffee shop at Waverley station today when I asked for a coffee made with soya milk though smiley - tongueout

Vestboy

I have a friend who is lactose intolerant and found out that she could eat things like hard cheeses as they don't have the lactose in them. smiley - weird
I'm not an expert by any means but investigating what favourite foods are still edible will be a labour of love, I guess.
I hope you're not too sick to eat plain chocolate.

I'm never too sick to eat chocolate smiley - drool

It turns out butter and cheese have very low levels of lactose but I'm going to monitor things and see how they go. However, I've noticed that my sinus problem has also cleared up greatly, which I'm putting down to cutting out milk and drinking Lacto Free smiley - smiley
