I only came back from Melbourne in the first place cos my visa ran out and I couldn't afford to extend it

If it's the better weather you miss I wouldn't think of moving to NZ (though maybe the North Island is a bit better.) I went to Dunedin this time last year and we had to put jumpers on. That was the height of summer. When I had asked the friend we were staying with what to bring he said "Imagine a summer in Scotland." We packed jumpers.
Weather forecast here in Sydney today is 31C. Not a jumper in sight.

To be honest it's more the way of life I miss - it was so refreshing to encounter that famous 'no worries' attitude first hand.

I lived in Melbourne for three months. Had to come back when my visa ran out - they said I'd have to go to NZ as you can't be in Australia to apply for the extension, but I didn't have the money to do that

Most of the people I work with are on one year visas. It's a real b*gg*r sorting out extensions etc.

I wanna emigrate too, but husband doesn't want to accept the job offer he has, that comes with a 4 year visa. Could be in Melbourne now, if he'd accepted the offer he got before christmas...
