fords - number 1 all over heaven

I think the past week has just knocked three years off my life thanks to my car smiley - steam

In short, never buy a car from a relative without taking their word that everything is fine, it'll pass its MOT no worries etc. Trust me, it will fail and you will stress like hell over getting the problems fixed when you have bugger all money to do it with smiley - grr

However, I got an exhaust for a very reasonable price from those nice boys who work for the garage what has blue and yellow in its colours, my dad's neighbour sourced and fitted new brake pads and discs and the car passed its retest. Thank Bob! I work on the other side of Edinburgh and was dreading getting the bus home

Vip

That's why we don't want to sell on our old car (we're doing it as part exhange against the new one instead).
We're getting rid of it because it's broken - why would you want to give that on to someone else??

Glad it turned out okay for you in the end.

Aye me too Vip, me too smiley - smiley

When we bought the car my sis did have some work done to it, nothing major though, and told us that all the brake pads and discs had been replaced. I thought 'great, one less thing to check', so when I had to brake suddenly on the city bypass one day and the front of the car started wobbling I put it down to the windy conditions, thinking it couldn't possibly be the brakes. My dad conveniently forgot to pass on a message from the garage when he picked the car up, saying that the front brakes were still legal but would need replacing smiley - tongueout
