Welcome to h2g2 I see you've already been greeted by a couple of people but I always think 'the more the merrier'. My name is deackie and I'm an ACE (assistant community editor), one of the merry band of volunteers who meet and greet new researchers and provide any assistance if it's needed.
h2g2 can seem a little overwhelming at first so my advice is to have a look around to get a feel of the place and join in some conversations to meet people. If you haven't already looked at it, check out the Welcome page http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Welcome it's a good place to start. Another good way to get a feel of the community is to look at other researchers' personal spaces. If you click on the 'Who's Online' button you can click on any of the researchers' names and visit their space.
Smileys are a way to brighten up postings and guide entries. The smiley list can be found at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/Smiley or you can click on any smiley and it will take you to the code
If you need any help feel free to ask. You can either reply to this posting or visit my personal space. I'm usually around either drinking and eating cake or quaffing

Hello! Welcome! Hi Deakie! Please make yourself comfortable!
My name is Plato and I'm an ACE Too! There are loads of cool things you can do here, and I recommend dropping in on a bar, firstly.
There are quite a few bars out there but my personal Favorite is the H2G2 Legs. Here's the Link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A187508
Have Fun!

Hi Plato.
Hi again Alayne. I'm sure you'll meet loads of people on here and make some really good friends. There's even the opportunity to meet some of the researchers you encounter in real life, as h2g2 RL meets are arranged.
