So, that'ts what it's all about - and I thought it had some ancient pagan origins, not in some early C20 folk revivalism (like the Druids in C18). Bit disapointing really.
Oh well, that's another thing I've learnt new this weekend.

Hello, well, The Origins Of Morris Dancing Are Lost In The Mists Of Time. The earliest known references are, I believe, 14th century.
Anyway, it is a great deal of fun. You meet the most entertaining people, and get to do the most interesting injuries to your knees.
I wouldn't give it up for the world.
Yrs, a Cotswold Morris dancer who simply loves doing galleys.
BTW, yon researcher didn't mention North West, Molly, Longsword, Rapper or Clog. So there's more to it than you think!
