Well hi there, Zarquon's Singing Fish !.smiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

Just dropping in. Nice place you have heresmiley - ok. Very impressed with so much spiritual and physical activity...my own spiritual activity being no more than sleeping a lot, and physically I couldn't catch a bus if it were stationary & I was in the queuesmiley - sadfacesmiley - smiley

Any chance of a cup of smiley - tea?

Hi Z's Singing Fish smiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

Please don't take last night's message too seriously. I'm not disabled or anything, I was trying (unsuccessfully) to be funny. Hope you didn't find it offensive......I'd better have thatsmiley - tea if it's still going....

Hi, Grime!

Nice to see you! Yes the smiley - tea is still on offer. And smiley - cake.

What was that about giving offence? No, I couldn't see anything to take umbrage about.smiley - biggrin

I'm still fairly new to this and having fun learning GuideML. I've just found out how to make my Triumph Bonneville move (unfortunately it's going the wrong way, but I don't know how to make it go the other way!).

There seems to be strong peace element in my stuff at present (except two entries, which have elements of ritual sacrifices).

No doubt my silly/funsmiley - silly side will burst through at some stage.

Feel free to drop by any timesmiley - smiley.

Hi Z's S Fish, smiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

*drinks tea and eats cake voraciously - hey, that's good cake!*

Great taste in motorbikes. Had a Tiger Cub once meself - crude spring suspension threw me across the road just missing an oncoming car. Bonneville = smiley - magic

Possible offence - I was very worried as soon as I made the Posting that you might think I was trying to belittle your lifestyle...far from it.

Motorcycle - simply substitute 'right' in your Marquee formula for left.

Thanks for the smiley - tea and smiley - cake. I'll be back, hopefully more politely, 'n don't forget to visit me againsmiley - smiley

Hi Grime!

I sure will!smiley - biggrin

About the lifestyle - some of the people I know think I'm rather whacky, not to say bonkers at times, however I don't care!smiley - zen

I once came off my Bonneville when I'd only had it a short while. Being short, I could only put my tiptoes on the ground when I was at rest. I came to a halt at a junction (luckily on a motorcycle training ground - I used to manage a local authority training scheme) and noticed the bike had tipped very slightly to the left. I wasn't worried! However, I found I couldn't right the bike and over it went, my panic and embarrassment mountingsmiley - blush. Like an idiot, I put my hand under the tank to stop it getting scratched and I had a whacking bruise. Imagine my embarrassment in front of the instructorsmiley - flustered (who wasn't looking as I had a full licence), but it took the two of us to right it.

I've done quite a few fun things apart from that's in my space, including a firewalk. I wonder if anyone's written an entry on that!

Hi Z's SFsmiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

Mainly to let you know i've moved. But your experience with the Bonneville made me think of a Yamaha LC350 I once had (hope you're not against Jap bikes on principle). It was light as a feather, but went like crazy. A two-stroke 2 cylinder with AMAZING acceleration, like the GP bikes. Known as the Headbangers' bike par excellence, I'm proud to say. They don't make 'em like that any more - it was murder for the environment as you screamed away in a puff of blue smokesmiley - biggrin

Come visit my new home soon, see what you think.

Hi, Grime!

Thanks for the invite! I like your new home. I didn't know you could put pictures together like that and it's smiley - cool.

Why did you decide to move?

Am I against Jap bikes? Not now, although when I was younger I was. These days, if I did get one, I'd probably go for a Jap one. No painful kickstart and possibly more reliable. However, that's probably a few years a few years away. I have a friend who wants us to go on a 'Motorbikes and the art of Quaker maintenance' weekend course. It's generally led by someone with the improbable name of Ben Pink Dandelion!

That weekend course sounds well coolsmiley - cool, ZSFsmiley - smiley

I moved (twice! - there's a 'Grimethorpe' site too) - because I can't resist fiddling and changing things like passwords an' stuff and I ended my own existence!

If you click on one of my early postings and then follow the links you'll understand why it's 'where's wally' here, apart from me being the wally who can't stop fiddling with computer programs etcsmiley - whistle

Me again.

I meant to ask two things:

How did you get the Bonneville to scroll right, (I was obviously wrong about simply changing 'left' to 'right' 'cos I've tried it and it didn't work - sorry)

and

Which Entry of yours has just been edited?

Hi Grime smiley - smiley

The instructions for the Bonneville are:

I tried other things before this, but it was Whisky who gave me the instructions. Neat, isn't it!

I'll have a look at your original site in a bit.

The one which has just been recommended for inclusion in the guide is http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A645699 on folk plays. I'm really pleased about it, as I worked hard on it.

I'm working on an entry about the Quaker Peace Testament at the moment and finding it challenging to get the shape and balance of it right.

Hi Grime!

I know I should know the answer, but I'm blowed if I can find it.smiley - blush

How do I get to see how someone's page is set up. I know it's something to do with 'Test User', but I can't work out how to do it.

How are things?

Hi ZSFsmiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

Nice to hear from you. How ya doin'?

Tal, (Taliesin):
http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/U167550
knows all about this. One thing that puzzles me about it is where you actually write the 'test' etc. In your Journal perhaps? Could you ask him while you're about it, unless you know that bit?

Tell 'im Grime sent you.

Thanks for your bit of code, btw, it set me runners runnin' on me new homepagesmiley - ok

Hi Grime!

I had thought you put it where the URL is and omitted the U from the researcher's number, however I've tried a couple of combinations and neither worked.

I'll talk to Taliesin as you suggest.

Hmm, the runners you have running look really ace!smiley - cool

IC now. It was so obvious that nobody bothered to tell me - and so blindingly obvious that I never bothered to thinlk of it! Thanks so much for telling me.

Glad you like my runnerssmiley - smiley

Don't exactly hold your breath for Tal - he's nice & responsive (in case you don't know him), but he lives on the West Coast of Canada.

Hi ZSFsmiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

This may be a bit late to be helpful, but I found the answer to your question deep in one of my Conversations:

you can examine the code by replacing the 'U' in my user number with the word, 'testuserpage'

And it works.

Thanks, Grimesmiley - smiley!

I also found it in a very old conversation with Whisky at about the same time. It took me ages to trawl through and find it though. 'Testuserpage' works for personal space and 'test' works for guide entries.

As to the name changes - I'm confused. Why? Variety? A new start?

Hi ZSFsmiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

Thanks for your message.

Sorry to confuse you with the names, but none of the changes were voluntary except the last one - when I finally got back, with the help of the h2g2 support team, to my original identity.

I kept forgetting my BBC usernames because I kept experimenting with them., so I had to keep inventing new sites with new usernames and new h2g2 names.

Since I got rid of my other names (the sites now just have 'Researcher123456' on them), then the system re-stamps my old messages from those sites and puts the researcher number on instead. Please ignore this - they were all from me.

Hi Grime (Grimethorpe 2K1)

Oh, I see.smiley - whistle Researcher 123456 is fairly easy to remember, so I'll keep 'em peeled.

When I set my password up, I used a fairly impenetrable one (at least I think so), but my fingers are so used to doing it, they almost do it by themselves, so much so that I often put it in at work where I have totally different passwords.

What are you doing between now and mid January, when I think you sid you may be more able to devote time to h2g2?

Hi Zarquon's SFsmiley - fishsmiley - musicalnote

smiley - biggrin"Researcher 123456 is fairly easy to remember, so I'll keep 'em peeled."smiley - biggrinsmiley - ok

The original problem lay in having a typo in my original username.

What am I doing between now and mid-January? As little as possible, under the circumstances, smiley - sleepy(it wasn't me who said that originally, though). What about you? How many thousand different interesting and varied activities are you planning?

And I'm dying to know about that course on Motorbikes and the Art of Quaker Maintenance run by Ben Pink Thingy (Posting 7). Did you go? What was it like?
