Three weeks ago t'Other decided to just stop crawling and confidently set off on his own two feet even if he didn't know how far he was going to have to walk. Two weeks ago he started to sleep through (finally!). One week ago I gave him a breastfeed and put him down to bed, and that was our last feed. My baby isn't my baby any more

Aaww
Gracie's walking too, though she'll crawl a little still if she stumbles and decides it's not worth putting down whatever she's carrying to make it easier to get up

These stages are so bittersweet and I go mushy when I think back, but then I think about how my daughter doesn't need nappies any more and how much better it is with the safety gates taken down

I'm not really here Posted Apr 28, 2010
I'm such a meanie, I waved bye bye to babyhood without a look back. I occasionally get a pang for the cute toddler he was when I see another cute toddler, but never for babyhood.
I like him much better now he's fun to be with and makes me , bless him.

I don't miss most of the baby phase to be honest, I liked t'Boy much more once he was walking and talking, but this does feel very much end of an era. I don't think J will ever change his mind about having any more kids so that last breastfeed was the last breastfeed I will ever do which makes me feel a little sad - although I never particularly enjoyed feeding as such it is still something that I did once and don't now do any more. I've never been particularly good at endings!
I am starting to come to terms with not having any more kids and seeing the benefits of stopping where we are now but I suppose I will always feel wistful when I see a big bump or very new baby.
t'Other is using lots of words now, including a fully-formed Mummy and that is cute. He babbles *constantly* and although t'Boy is very able verbally I dodn't remember him performing a non-stop narrative like t'Other does. Ours is going to be a very loud house!

And it probably isn't much consolation to know that this won't be the last time that it's 'the last time' ...

my 2nd talks incessantly (people who know me IRL can see where she gets it from)
There are also lots of first times to come, and a lot of them make you too...

Yes, Sic talks all the time - she uttered her first word (in the presence of a paediatrician) at the age of 7 months, and has hardly shut up since

Do you think second babies have an inbuilt drive to ensure their voices are heard?
