An introduction to Programming
The general subject I would like to cover are basic introductions to several aspects of programming.
The basic idea of the project is to create a series of basic introductions to areas of programming that can later be used as gateways to more language specific or more detailed explainations.
This will hopefully give future entry development a bit of structure.
I came up with the idea when trying to do a basic introduction to loops, I found it near impossible to do a simple introduction without having to do several other small simple introductions to put it in context. And even then it was tricky.
So when I found the University of Life, I thought a project creating several simple introductions might be more useful.
I would like to cover basic introductions to the area of programming in general, the concept of variables, the ideas of syntax and compilation, a basic introduction to IF statements and Loops.
These introductions need to be accessible, non-jargon, and not too long winded.
Proposed Start Date: 14th of May 2001
Proposed End Date: 25th of June 2001

Sounds good, too bad I'm no one official.
What exactly do you plan to focus on?
Algorithms, machine code vs. higher-level?
Maybe I should take a look at your project page before I ask.

Well, you see the idea is to introduce aspects of a program in general terms, so anyone can understand.
Then in the future have entries saying, this is how you do this in assembly or C or whatever.
If your interested in helping I would be grateful, if this project gets approved of course.

I'd like to, but I can't make any committment just yet. It largely depends on if I have online access over the summer or not. I hope I will, but who knows?
In other words, I'll let you know in the fullness of time, assuming your project's been approved by then. You must be somehow escaping Peta's notice.

Hello, just trying to keep up interest.
Oh, ddombrow, if you are interested and available to help I'd be grateful. I have decided to work on some of the perliminary stuff while I wait for Peta to notice my project. So if you are interested, leave a message at the project page, OK?

p.s. please, any positive feedback is gratefully recieved.

Oops sorry! Back now! No idea how this one slipped past me, sorry!
It looks like a great idea for a project. Please do go ahead! I'll add you to the university team now.
Thanks!
