I recently ran a Spiritual Health and Healing shop, I really felt that I was helping to make the world into a better place! Anyway it failed due to not making enough money. I miss it a lot, but I don't miss the violence!
A lot of people think that 'New Age' therapies are pointless. Some people think that to believe in one theapy means you believe in all of them.
I think that this is untrue, espcially in my experience. For instance I have seen two homoeopaths, nothing they did worked for me. Except for one remedy, which was great for my asthma. But she won't let me have that remedy anymore!
Thing is, I learnt a lot about health and healing, but more interesting I learnt a lot about people! The things people asked for, some of my customers wanted me to make all of their decisions for them, they didn't want to take responsibility for their own lives.
Yet when the shop closed, and I wanted to stay in contact with some of my customers, most of them didn't want to know me anymore! So if you are in a shop, they will ask you to run their life, but as soon as you have lost your shop, they don't need or want you around anymore!
Does this mean that you can get away with anything, just cause you have that shop front?

I know what you mean about what happens when you stop having a working relashonship with someone I've had what I thought were great freindships that have stopped dead when they stop working with you.

It hurts, doesn't it?

I am a psychologist and every one thinks that I have a magic wand to solve their problems. When I can't and tell them they have to look at themselves and their behaviour they get all huffy too! I'm also a pagan and use some alternative therapies to help stress relief for staff etc. I'm calleda crank until it works..but it doesn't work for everyone....I think it is if you believe in it ...then it works.

I'm called the white witch at work but then everyone comes to me with their problems! I don't belong to any particular group simply because I move alot with my job. My daughter is also a pagan.

Thats excellent that you can be open at work, are you UK, USA or elsewhere? I've heard that although USA enshrines your rights, there are places where you just wouldn't say what you were. Whereas in UK, nobody understands what you mean and makes assumptions!

Hi
I'm in the UK. Under the new human rights act no one can put you down for what you believe in. But to be honest most people treat it as a joke ...say that i am eccentric. But that is ok....working in a university helps I think because we have a real mix of people and religions. I don't go around shoving it down people's throats ,unlike the evangelists we have on campus, so people just accept it. They just see it as part of me and what I am, just as they see a Hindu colleague's religion as part of who they are.
