Sea Change

I was wondering why the assault on Supreme Court Justice Souter was Patriot-Acted. I was hoping against hope that that traitor Robertson who begged his followers to hope certain Justices would die was going to get hung by the neck until dead.

However, it's been in the news lately that the Supreme Court has refused to hear the appeal of Massachusetts law made by the theocrats of the the anti-gay-marriage alliance, and that Souter was the justice who would review their case to see if the Court would possibly hear it.

Can you post a link to this affair? I personally think that gay marriage is a great idea.

I've been reading this in the LA Times, so I have no idea how much of this made it to the electronic media.

As for Pat Robertson wanting his followers to pray for Supreme Court Justices to die, read just about any article about a day after the Supreme Court declared consenting sex a matter of privacy no matter who does it. I think the case is called Lawrence Vs. Texas and was resolved sometime last November. Robertson is the same one who said that feminists (and gays, and whoever else he doesn't like) were responsible for Sep 11 attacks, because they caused God to turn his protection from the USA.

Given how many people here (85% or so) support the words 'under God' to remain in the United States' Pledge of Allegiance, I have half jokingly spouted to anyone who would listen that since US is under God, declaring the country to have been abandoned by It is 'giving aid and comfort to the enemy' (which is one of only two definitions of treason by our Constitution). After he wished members of our 3rd branch dead, and given how powerful he is and how many followers he has, I was fully expecting with no joke whatsoever that the FBI to swoop down on him any day.

Alas.

The assault on Souter by a bunch of thugs happened a few days before May 7th. It was surprising to me to find it buried so deeply in the paper (it was like page 20 of the 40 page front section) instead of being on the front page, but it was possible that it happend just as the paper went to press. Also, the whole prisoner abuse thing was getting going just about then, too.

I haven't found any further articles about this event, and there weren't any apologies for error or hoax anywhere in the paper ever since. I am *guessing* it got Patriot Acted because no way such an event and the ensuing investigation of it would not be HUGE news.

The article about the last minute rejection of the requested hearing, and how Souter was the Justice who controlled appeals from the Massachusetts region was printed May 15th.

Souter attacked:

It’s the thing for party-line bush-kisser sources to add (with no justification based on any information available) that the attack is ‘apparently random’. No mention is ever made of any other typical assaults in the region.

This is about his call for retirement. Death threats by him are easily found. My computer crashed while I was finding seditious quotes, they are not hard to find.
