Hydrogen fuel

Hi

I know that your question was posted last year but I have only just found it being new here. If you are still interested drop me a line and let me know if there are any specific questions as 'hydrogen as a transport fuel' is a rather large area. In case you are wondering I am a research scientist working on fuel cells / hydrogen and technological change!

Hi Kerry Ann,
I've always been interested in Hydrogen as a fuel. It seems a no brainer that hydrogen is the way to go. But it's been almost 100 years now with only promises of new technology and breakthroughs. While there are some new applications, and lots of promise, it seems that we're making little actual progress in replacing hydrocarbon fuels. The "hydrogen bomb" and the "Hindenberg" negative ideas are still effective in chilling the psyches of most people even though there is little scientific support left for those fears. There are lots of neat new ideas with respect to storage and I'm fascinated by them. I was following the research being done at Northeastern University on the spiral shape cells. Don't recall the name at this moment. Are you into this?
I have some other ideas I could share with you but I'll see first if you respond to this note. The activity on these bbc boards is very scant and as you said, it was a year before you got wind of the question. If you want, you can correspond directly with me at [email protected].

Bye for now,
Joe Lamando

Much is made of the 'cleanliness' of Hydrogen cycle.
Only Water vapour, with images of purity. Consider:
dihydrogen water (aka Water) Is The Most Potent
Greenhouse Gas.
(cf:
www.gcrio.org/ipcc/qa/09.html
Visit web site, evaluate....)

Presumably reducing emissions of CO2 (a greenhouse gas) by
increasing emissions of H2O (a greenhouse gas) will be
better. Somehow.

'Hydrogen cycle' may well have a place in the future, perhaps
considering ALL aspecsts of it is useful.

DWP,
I read the info at the site you recommended. The author makes a point about h2o and co2 both being greenhouse gasses but doesn't give much weight to the noxious gasses associated with oil and coal based fuels. We all know that co2 and h20 are the fundamental requirements relative to life of plants and animals, and this cycle has sustained itself for millions of years. The authoe is nebulus on cumulus clouds and I think the arguement goes nowhere in particular.
I think we have got to get serious about the use of hydrogen. I think it's obviously better in the long run.
