"Slow download times are more annoying than noisy neighbours, watching their football team lose or being stuck in a queue"
Well, most Scots have had years of experience of watching our teams lose and the English make some of the nosiest neighbours going. Relatively speaking we have only had the internet for a wee while and so have yet to get used to its failures.

See, I don't really get upset about slow connection times.. I'm being used to my modem not being able to connect at more than 33.6 or even 31.2 most of the times, and therefor, if I need to download something, I just do something else in the mean time... Like watch a good movie...

One in five? Sounds suspiciously low if you ask me
Mind you, I get cheesed off at the slowness of my work connection sometimes, and that's a university network...

Our mega fast network is always going belly up on us, but it gives us the excuse not to do any work
I agree with the 'don't get mad - get broadband' quote though, many's the time I've been close to lobbing my lump of plastic and glass out the window!

Having been on the receiving end of much marketing hype and junk mail over theyears I have learned to ask
1. Who paid for the research?
2. What answers did they adjust their questions to get?
The frghtening thing about Sir Humphrey in Yes Minister is the way you still see his machinations on the news programs daily.

The only thing that has saved my computer at times is that its too bloody heavy for me to lift so I cannot lob it out the window.
And my laptop - its not connected to the net, so I havent felt the need!

I use my laptop to connect to the net via broadband , and it only goes slow if Norton's playing silly beggars with my system resources. However, I have just acquired a motherboard with a 2.2 GHz chip on it for nothing, which will go nicely in the 400MHz desktop machine..
