h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Sometimes, I feel philosophical. Oftentimes, these feelings lead to feelings of depression. Why? I am a realist. And I have the ability to see things from a variety of view points. Good to have in a relationship or in a debate, bad to have if you want to live in a world of delusions. Life is pointless. That is reality. There is no point for us being here. Is there a point for a dog to exist? Some higher meaning in a dog's life? No. One might mention the food chain, but last I checked the domesticated mongrel doesn't have much of a part in the food chain. Why talk about a dog if I am discussing the meaning of life? What is the difference between a dog and a man? Aside from the usual feminist cracks, there is none. But wait, man creates, and thinks, and does great things! Man does do all that, but let's look at it this way. Is an adult greater than a newborn. An adult creates and thinks of it's own free will; a newborn does not. But, the newborn has the potential to do so after a period of aging and maturing. True, but a newborn is similar in desires to a dog. It's all about the food and the sleep and having simple "fun". But a dog doesn't grow like a newborn does. True, but who's to say that, given the right circumstances and enough time the dog won't evolve. (I mean that as a species, not as an individual)
What is the point of all this? The point is, down to the basic structure of it, man is no better than a dog. Well, gee, that is why I sometimes get depressed when I get philosphical, for that is the type of thoughts I have. I understand them, even if you don't. I just don't explain them well enough.
Today, I was feeling philosophical, but not depressed. I had a good day. I saw the woman child. Got work for tomorrow. Took a nap. She smelled good. Life is good.

Who is the woman child?

The woman child is Jerelyn. Its something I call her when Im being a butt head. PLayfully, of course. I am older than her so it kinda just feels right. We have one of those fun relationships.
