Having grown up and lived in Ealing for most of my life, I can say with a great deal of confidence that you are talking utter rubbish.
It's not bad for shopping though.

So have I, and having lived in other suburban areas of the UK, I have to say it fairs very well indeed. I've also noticed the more spoilt the young population, the more likely they are to view their well-run clean middle class borough with good facilities as 'a dump'
