Fragilis, reading this made me feel proud to be associated with the "Post" and with h2g2. An absolutely excellent piece of writing - entertaining, educational, thought-provoking and, in the "Questions About Heterosexuality" section, very funny!
In a better-ordered world, this Entry would be adopted as a set text in schools.

Well done love, it's a brilliant piece of writing.
Something to add on your bisexuality bit, one of my best friends is Bisexual and she has settled down with another woman (in a lesbian marriage type thing) people often say to her surely because you are married to a woman you are a lesbian and she has to explain that she finds both sex attractive but she has chosen to spend the rest of her life with a woman. Similar to us chosing a lifelong mate from the opposite sex, she has just chosen her lifelong mate from a mixed sex group

Oh! I thought I'd leave a shameless plug as well.
There are a few additional entries that I decided not to put in the Post. These are part of a University project that will hopefully become part of h2g2's Edited Guide. I am always looking for feedback to make sure I'm on the right track. You can read the other entries and comment on them at http://www.bbc.co.uk/h2g2/guide/A543395

I would, but I hate to say it, being a Catholic I do accept that my friends are that way inclined but I cannot bring myself to encourage it.
I feel that there should be a certain amount of ettiquete as you have described but I find the whole subect fairly awkward.
I'm sorry

Don't worry, Mel. I'm not asking you or any other particular person to read the entries. I just wanted anyone reading the thread to know I'm looking for help. If you don't feel interested, don't do it.

Thanks for putting me at ease, I was worried I was going to offend..sometimes I hate my views, but then again I wouldn't be me without them!

One of the best comments on bisexuality I've ever heard came from Woody Allen. I can't remember the exact words, but it was to the effect that everyone should be bisexual because it doubled your chance of having a date on Saturday night!

Not necessarily because a lot of Gays wont date bi's and neither will many straight people, so in fack they have the same if not less chance of getting a date as the rest of us

That's been my experience, too. Declaring yourself bi is a great way to make sure a large percentage of your potential dates will view you as a shifty outsider.
Allen is just parroting the old stereotype that bisexuality is the product of selfishness. Actually, I think the joke is still funny because it reminds us that some people are so desperate that they'll try changing their orientation to get a date! Shame it doesn't work that way...

Sorry! I thought the (Allen) joke was on exclusive straights and exclusive gays/lesbians! No offence meant!

Calm down, Ormy. It's really not that easy to offend me, you know.
Nobody in this thread has said anything rude, as far as I'm concerned. I was complaining a little about Allen because he seems willing to trade on sexual orientation issues to get a laugh, but unwilling to take any time to figure out what he's talking about. I didn't mean to imply that you were prejudiced for repeating one of Allen's more harmless jokes, Ormondroyd. You don't seem that way to me at all -- in fact, rather the opposite.
If you offend me, you'll know right away because I'll tell you. And I won't get upset right away either. To get me annoyed, you'll have to keep echoing the same sentiment at least a couple of times after I've told you it bothers me.
You see, I'm trying to reduce ignorance here. You can't do that without speaking openly. So don't worry about it.

woody's best comment on the whole sexual thing was that "sex between two people is a wonderful thing - you just have to get between the right two people"
