When I was young, penicillin the wonder drug was routinely presecribed for comparatively minor infections. I was also given it as a prophylactic during jaw surgery in my late teens. Five years later I nearly died when a dentist gave it to me for a dental abcess. You can develop an allergy, especially if you don't take the full course.
Keep antibiotics for the big things and if, like me, you are allergic to penicillin carry a piece of jewellery that says so.

I must say I didn't put in anything about allergies as that can happen with any drug - lets face it some people are allergic to sunlight! But maybe it was worth a mention - definitely make it known you are allergic to it.

I discovered a while back that I'm allergic to morphine (after an operation on my ankle). I try and put it on record wherever possible but I must say I worry waht might happen if I had say a nasty car accident and wasn't conscious and so couldn't tell a doctor or nurse

I think you should consider the jewellery. I have a necklace and a custom-made silver bracelet which I alternate. Otherwise, stay at home.

Yeah - don't wear jewellery but it might be a good idea right enough.

Medic alert do some rather useful pendants , bracelets and I believe key fobs too .. they v contain details of medications you take, and of ones you are allergic to.

Can be very useful even life saving should you be rendered unconcious and not be able to inform the medics treating you.
