Yep, that's where I have to really think carefully. At least that's what I thought I was tought. Also, I often get confused with the " 's " usage when it's not supposed to be "is". I think it had something to do with plurals or something.

Chinese, huh? After a few lessons of Russian I decided that I'm not going to learn anything that has a complete different alphabet. A few letters I can handle but not all of them. smiley - smiley

Chinese has all the fun of tones, too. The syllable 'ma' can mean 'mother', or 'horse', or 'marijuana' depending on the pitch at which it's said. smiley - headhurts

As for apostrophes in English - it's taken me ages to get them right. I wish I could explain it, but I just give up.

Yeah, I just wing 'em when needed. smiley - smiley

That particular syllable reminds me.. My nephew is half nepalese and I was once at his father's brother's (one of those cases when I have no idea whether it's right or not smiley - erm) place fixing a computer and one of their kids came up to me and asked if I'm Daniel's 'maamaa'. Later I found out that it means mother's brother in Nepalese (and probably Hindi) but at the moment I really was quite clueless. I'm sure the expression on me face was a real Kodak time.

All the apostrophes in that post were precisely right. smiley - winkeye As for the expression on your face, I'll just imagine that. It would have been interesting.
