This is a very informative entry, worthy of Edited. It has information on just about everything to do with the Spanish Main, and its pirates. It is a good read if you are looking for facts about these scum of the seas, or if you just think they are interesting.

Still pirates today about the virgin island and cuba etc.... If you sail offshore there than you'd better be able to have a show of force....

Hi, Athena!
You have a lot of interesting stuff in this article, but I really think it could do with being broken up under different headers. You could use a few like 'The Spanish Main', 'The Treasure Fleet', 'Privateers', 'Life on a Pirate Ship' and so on.
Something else which might be useful would be to say when the main pirate activity tapered off - was it because the treasure fleets came to an end? Or because of better policing, by the Spanish, French or British navies? Or because the whole area got poor? It would be interesting to know.

would it also be possible to get a rough time frame to tie all of the information together? this entry seems to concentrate on the armada-era, before the RN really came into its own...
great entry do we still have someone keeping up the historical society?

I made a few changes, the entry was rather old, it just recently accured to me to put it up for editing. What do you think with the changes? Better?
To reply to the postings... It does have a time frame, which is mentioned in the entry. Putting headings was a good idea. I did that. Also added a bit about the end of the Spanish Main.
Peace.

Great one!
It's only that I just had my day for picking entries, so I can't recommend it for another four weeks. Hmm, or should I nick a pick from another scout ?
Just one point to your last para: The strait of Malacca, in Indonesia, is a place where piracy is still alive! Just do a web search for 'weekly piracy report'
