The Cube Farm
Jampoet Started conversation Jun 8, 2001
Today, at work, I recieved a new assignment. An assignment to a new cubicle, my second one since I recieved this job over four months ago.
My first cubicle was in a completely different building several miles away; and, before that, I spent two months sitting at other people's cubes whenever available and using thier computers.
I am a Help Desk Technician supporting thousands of DSL customers who are unfortunate enough to have this volitile, new high-speed internet access. Ahh, the joys of customer service when the only ones that call in have problems with the very service that we portray as being something that will make them very, very happy!
So, I sit in a cubicle, among hundreds of others, all day answering phone calls and troubleshooting computers. And, it's no fun when you have to disassemble a computer and move it completely across the "cube farm" and reassemble it again. Not to mention the many plants, stuffed animals, pictures and other nick-nacks decorating the small three walls called "home away from home". In about two weeks, I will actually be given a new role in my company and, the best part, is that I GET A NEW CUBICLE!!!
Jeez, whatever! I definitely feel like I am in a herd of cattle. Oh well! At least the breakroom has good food.
For now, good-bye and thanks for playin'!

Sounds like you work in some sort of power situation. Like on a ship or something. This whole conversation is starting to remind me of that recent cable TV sci-fi move called "The Cube". Good movie.
Well, thanks for replying

Haven't see "The Cube" movie - - - Yet !!!
Reckon I oughta see it soon, though. Yer right in one sense - sometimes it's on a ship, but sometimes it's in a refinery, chemical plant, or a power plant. Just depends on where I'm needed.
Fixing to do 30 to 150 days offshore in the Gulf Of Campeche down Mexico way. Lookin' forward to that one - oughta be quite lucrative!!!
What line are you in - or are you standin' in line like I so often do; ya know - - - airplane boarding lines, car rental lines, hotel check-in lines, etc.
Well enought pleasantry fer now. Enjoyed the reply - GREAT WEEKEND to ya !!!!!!!!!
