Great idea for a Guide Entry. Do you think it might be easier for people who don't know the poems (or who, like me, read them about 400 years ago) can have a bit of an idea what you're talking about. Then you could follow with your comparison of the poems then a bit of Owen's bigoraphy. Anyway, it's up to you, but that's how I'd like it.
I mean, if I could read them first; then have a think; and then see what you have to say about them - I'd get more out of this. After all, I may have read them and got the completely wrong end of the stick.
(I think that if you just type in the poem, then wait for a scout to recommend the entry, a sub-ed will "take care" of the GuideML, if you ask nicely. Which I'm sure you will!)

But you're not allowed to include somebody else's poems in your entry without permission. That's a breach of copyright. You can quote small portions of the poems as illustrations if you are discussing the poems, but you can't reproduce the whole thing.

Ah. Good point. In which case, I would prefer to see a few bigger chunks, then a comparison.

breach of copywrite? surely because they are being claimed as Wilfred Owens i haven't breached it at all. it's not as if i'm saying i wrote them. I'll have to take alook into the ins and outs of the law.
and anyway are not wilfred owens poems open to the public anyway. i'm not publishing them to make money so i can't see why it should cause a problem. i'll have a word with mark (moxon) about it, he usualy helps me out with these kind of things, or peta.
thanx for your kind words,

Giving credit to people is a nice thing to do, but it doesn't have anything to do with copyright violations. I could run over to the office copier and make copies of a novel -- even if the front page said who the author was, it would *still* be a copyright violation.
Same thing goes for posting poems. It is, however, OK to quote relatively small portions of someone else's work, *if/when* it is in the context of an academic or critical discussion of the work.
Hope this helps some!

I should also point out that in the entry, you identify this as an unfinished work in progress. As such, it really belongs in the Writing Workshop rather than Peer Review.

good point but as i just finished it it hardly seems worth poping over there. , and as you are aware peta has given it the go ahead and says that it's ok and not a breach of copy write. but thanks for your concern, i wouldn't like to see myself end up in court or anyhting. , now i wonder if i can get a scouts attention, hello? scout? u there?

Hey, it looks good. So now all you need to do is get rid of that bit at the bottom, right?
I much prefer it now the poems are:
a) in full
and
b) at the top.
I can't wait to see it on the front page, good luck finding a scout or whatever!
